Jeans are a mainstay in every man’s wardrobe. They are one of the most versatile pieces of clothing known to man. Men’s jeans are an ideal choice for those who don’t want to spend much time thinking about their outfit. They can wear one every day of the week without looking like he’s worn the same outfit twice.

Shopping for a pair of jeans used to be easy. They either fit or they didn’t. They are either black or blue. Today, however, there are so many different types of men’s jeans that some of you may be wondering which one to get. Rather than just focusing on the style, color or cut, you should also take the fit into consideration. After all, you wouldn’t want to waste your hard-earned money on ill-fitting jeans.

The right jeans will allow you to move around with ease and glide onto your body. If you’re struggling to find the perfect pair of jeans that fit and suit you well, then this blog post is for you. To ease your future shopping experience, we compiled a list of tips that will help you find the right pants for you.

Here are some tips for choosing the right` jeans for your body type.

Loose Fit

Loose fit men's jeans (Wide Leg)

Loose fit jeans are the roomiest of all jeans, with a fuller leg. It provides plenty of space in the legs, thighs, and butt. This is great for men with an inverted triangle body shape as it adds some heft to the lower part of your body. The leg should be roomy, but not flapping in the wind.

Loose jeans with a wide leg offer a comfortable option, so your jeans don’t stretch across your groin. The key to wearing loose fit jeans is to get the right fit. Make sure that your pants hit near your waist, not your hips. Otherwise, you may end up looking like a 90s boy band. With that much extra material already on show, the last thing you want is to pair it with a baggy top. Not only will it make you look lousy, it may also make you appear bigger. This is especially true for men who are on the bigger side.

These type of jeans have a very casual fit, so it looks great when paired with a shirt. Make sure, though, that you choose a shirt with a  plain, solid color. If print is your thing, opt for those with minimal print. Large prints or patterns will bring the attention to your torso and throw your body out of proportions.

Relaxed (Classic Fit)

Relaxed (Classic Fit)

Relaxed men’s jeans have a loose fit from the waist to the leg opening. The classic fit jeans work well for almost every body type, but this is especially beneficial for men with a triangular body shape. These men are larger around the waist and hips in relation to the top part of their bodies. Often, they have a hard time finding clothes that make their body appear proportional. Straight-legged jeans are ideal for this body type because they do not hug any part of your body. Plus, it helps create balance and the illusion of shape. It will take away the attention from the larger waist.

The classic fit is also ideal for muscular men. They have a fairly large leg opening, which is beneficial for them since they usually have bigger legs. Plus, it makes it easier for them to move around.

Regular (Straight Leg)

Regular fit men's jeans (Straight Leg)

Straight leg jeans maintain an equal width from the hips to the hem. It is ideal for stocky men with a muscular body. These are the men who frequent the squat rack at the jeans. Often, they have a hard time finding well-fitting pants because of the size of their hams, calves, and quads. In this case, you may want to turn to straight legs. They are not too tight and not too loose. They are roomy enough without looking baggy, yet fit enough to accentuate your toned body.

Contrary to what most people think, slim or skinny jeans are not recommended for muscular men as it will make them look heavier. Regular fit trousers, on the other hand, will accentuate your toned body without being body-hugging. It will emphasize the best aspects of your build. Remember, well-fitting doesn’t always mean tight-fitting.

Slim Fit Men’s Jeans

Slim fit jeans

Slim fitting denim are a bit tight-fitting, but not as body-hugging as skinny jeans. For those who prefer slim fit jeans, opt for those that have a slight amount of elasticity to them.

This type of men’s jeans is also ideal for slender men – those with small shoulders, flat chest, and light build. Avoid wearing a tight-fitting shirt as it will only make you look thinner. Pair slim fit jeans with an oversized shirt instead to balance out your fit and ensure that your shape is not overly exaggerated.

Slim fit jeans are also ideal for the average American build – those who have defined muscles but are not overly athletic. These are the men who hit the gym occasionally but aren’t bulking up. Since their upper and lower body is fairly proportional, wearing pants that are bit tight won’t mess up their visual proportions.

Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans

The skinny fit is the latest addition to the men’s jeans family. This is the tightest and snuggest of the jean style.

Generally, skinny jeans are divided into two categories: standard and spray-on. Since we have already discussed slim fit earlier, we’ll focus on spray-on skinny jeans. Spray-on styles have a very narrow ankle opening and are tapered close to the leg all the way down. Often, they contain a high proportion of stretch elastane, which gives them an element of comfort and ease when wearing them. Because skinny jeans tend to be figure-hugging, they are best reserved for men with well-maintained and well-proportioned bodies. They are great for showing off your figure, making them a great choice for athletic men.

Although people often say that you can’t go wrong with denim, there are a few common mistakes men make when styling skinny jeans. The biggest sin is wearing one that doesn’t fit you well. Never wear skinny jeans that are too tight around the waist as it can lead to a potential muffin top situation. It won’t create the kind of silhouette that’s most attractive for men.

The world of fancy home brewed beers has never seemed more appealing. If home brewing was a tradition pretty much abandoned when the beer industry took over, people are starting to appreciate the unique, individual flavors of home-brewed beers once more.

Not just a hipster trend, brewing your beers at home can be not just tastier, but also healthier than buying a pre-fabricated alternative. Unless you drink commercial home brewed beer every time (like the one sold by Belgian monks), which we doubt it, you should definitely consider home beer brewing. It’s easier than you think.

Home Brewing 101

How to Prepare for the Home Brewing Experience

First of all, don’t be scared of the process; people usually don’t even consider home beer brewing because they dismiss it as messy and complicated. With a good guide (as we strive to be), you’ll see that it doesn’t have to be so, and obtaining your own beer can actually be quite simple.

In 5 easy steps, the beer will be brewing away in some barrels or bottles (no need for fancy equipment), and you’ll be ready to enjoy it in no time.

The first thing you need for home beer brewing is some patience and calm. Then, with minimal equipment and supplies, we’ll show you exactly how it’s done.

What You’ll Need

Craft beer ingredients

Since this post is meant for beginners, we’ll recommend some starter kits first of all. You can go for the basic version or you can go for the fancier super-cool version. You can do without such starter kits, so they’re not absolutely mandatory, but it will be slightly easier to craft beer with them, not to mention that the bottles will look better (and you can re-use them for as long as you’d like, or gift them to your buddies and so on).

Besides the starter kit suggestion, this is what you will need for home beer brewing. This time, we really mean it (you wouldn’t be able to brew any home beer without these):

  • Malted barley
  • Hops(for seasoning)
  • Baker’s yeast or brewer’s yeast (specialists tend to argue on which is better, we obviously recommend the brewer’s yeast)
  • A little bit of sugar (or malt syrup, for a stronger flavor)
  • Clean water
  • Bottles with tight caps (to prevent oxygen from entering and disturbing the fermentation process).

The natural ingredients above can be found in most health food shops and brew shops, but if you buy them online from specialized brewing suppliers it tends to be safer. You can find the products of such suppliers on major shopping hubs like Amazon (see the links above for examples).

How to Do Home Beer Brewing

Now that you’re prepared, you can actually get to brewing. The basic, straight-forward process can be summed up in 5 steps. Here are the fundamental steps to home beer brewing:

  1. Soak the malted barley in hot water overnight, to release the malt sugars.
  2. Boil the malted water with added hops for seasoning.
  3. Cool the solution and add yeast to initiate fermentation.
  4. Allow the beer to ferment in a tightly closed recipient, releasing carbon dioxide and breaking down the malt sugars. This takes about 2 weeks.
  5. After the fermentation is complete, store the beer in tightly closed bottles, with a little extra added sugar (for keeping the carbonization strong for when the beer will be enjoyed). It’s ready to be consumed in another 2 weeks.

Once you master basic brews with these 5 steps, you should try to improvise a bit and see how the flavors you obtain evolve. Don’t be afraid to experiment, this is how great beers are born. Also, if you have doubts or would like to study the matter more in-depth, you can always consult and trustworthy manual on home beer brewing, to look up possible variations, learn about the advantages of using extra pieces of equipment and so on. Have fun and enjoy your brews!

Not too long ago, people think of bearded men as those who have given up on basic grooming. Today, however, beards are very trendy and have made a huge comeback in the last five years, with celebrities like Johnny Depp, Bradley Cooper, David Beckham, and Jason Momoa all wearing hair on their faces. With so many beard styles for men, it is important to choose the right style that will suit your personality, face shape, and hairstyle.

Beards are very much in fashion these days. True beardsmen understand that the ultimate goal of growing facial hair is to add contrast and dimension to their face. In addition to finding the right beard style, styling, trimming, shaping, and maintenance are all crucial elements of creating an impeccable look. You need to invest time and effort into your facial hair to appear sophisticated.

Here are 5 cool beard styles for men, along with some tips on how to rock them.

Full beard

The full beard is considered as the classic way to grow facial hair. It consist of hair on the cheeks, around the lips, chin, and sideburns.

Full beard is often the subject of beard envy. Although we’re seeing a resurgence in the popularity of full beard, a lot of men are having difficulty growing one. Depending on your lifestyle and genetics, a good, thick beard will take a few months to grow out. Patience is essential when trying to grow a full beard.

Of all the beard styles for men, the full beard is the hardest to rock. Don’t worry if your beard appears patchy at first. In order to pull off this look, you need to combine style and confidence without coming off looking too messy. To give it a shape, it is best to have your beard shaped by a barber every once in a while.

Beardstache

Beard styles for men: Beardstache

The beardstache is a cross between a stubble and a full beard. It is the facial hair equivalent of a mullet, wherein the mustache is kept longer and fuller than the surrounding hair. It has gained popularity over the past couple of years, even though most critics describe it as a mullet for the face.

Bearstache works well on most face shapes. When done right, it instantly adds a hyper-masculine ruggedness to one’s face. It is a great option for those who are tired of the conventional beard styles for men and want to try something new that’s not overly radical. It is also a good option for summer months, when a heavy beard may become a bit warm.

There is a little work involved when growing and maintaining a beardstache since we have two contrasting length. The beard should be short and neat while the mustache should be full and thick. Although, it tends to look better when the difference between the two parts isn’t too great.

Faded beard

The faded beard is probably one of the coolest beard styles for men. It involves creating a smooth transition between a thick hair growth to shaved face. It’s the sort of facial hair that straddles the line between masculine and manicured.

If you think you can grow a beard, attempt the faded style, and appear instantly polished and stylish, then you may be in for a shock. Fading a beard isn’t easy. This style requires facial hair to be precisely cut and blended. If you are considering growing a beard and grooming it to fade into your hairstyle, it is best to leave it to your barber. Also, regular trips to the barber is recommended if you want to keep your fade looking fresh.

Goatee

Beard styles for men: Goatee

A goatee is a beard style that includes a connective line of facial hair from the mustache to the chin. Other defining feature includes clean-shave cheeks. It is a great option for men who can’t grow a full beard but still want to wear some facial hair.

A goatee can also help define a round or less than sculpted face. It can add strength to a weak chin by giving the illusion of fullness and shape.

It is important to take your face shape and hair volume into consideration when choosing a goatee beard style. Goatee beard will compliment an diamond or heart-shaped face as it broadens the chin, balancing the shape of the face. Pure goatee ( goatee without the mustache) will make a round face look a bit smaller. The key is to choose a style that compliments your facial structure. Remember, a style that doesn’t compliment your face shape can make you look awkward.

Stubble

Baby face? No chiselled jaw line? No problem. Stubble helps provide the much needed edge. It can greatly enhance your facial feature or the lack thereof. It adds maturity and a sense of ruggedness to a man’s face.

Of all the beard styles for men on the list, the stubble is the easiest to cultivate. It suits most face shapes and is also easy to maintain. To perfect the masculine look with stubble, you just have to stop shaving for a few days. However, you need to keep an eye on the length. If you don’t do it right, it may make you look frumptastic.

There isn’t any guy out there who hasn’t tried the stubble look. Kept need and trimmed, it looks as good in the boardroom as it does on the bar. A lot of women find a little scruff on a guy sexy.

Before business casual dominated the workplace, men’s attire was categorized into two: casual wear and business attire. In the office, they are expected to wear a suit and tie. On weekends, casual clothes are worn.

Wearing a suit sans tie is a fine, stylish way to dress down a suit. This is perfect when you want to look professional, but you don’t want to project conventional authority. Since you won’t be wearing a tie, you need to unbutton the buttons of the shirt. The more buttons you unbutton, the more casual and daring the look will be. Also, keep your undershirt hidden. After all, they aren’t meant to be seen.

Just because Mark Zuckerberg can get away with wearing a t-shirt and jeans, doesn’t mean you can too. You still ought to dress up.

Masculine, sophisticated and versatile, a blazer is a staple in men’s wardrobe. Although it is intended for smart occasions, it also works well with casual pieces like a t-shirt. To pull off this look, make sure that you get the fitting right. The blazer, along with the v-neck shrit, should be well-fitted. The t-shirt should be loose enough that you’re comfortable but not form-fitting. Also, we suggest that you stick with solid, neutral colored t-shirts. In this case, navy, gray, black, and white are your colors of choice. Bright-colored t-shirts should be reserved for casual occasions.

While donning a blazer over a V-neck shirt is acceptable, make sure that you pair those with tailored pants to keep you from looking too casual. You want to tip the balance in the direction of smart.

Sport jacket is looser and more unstructured than typical jackets and suits.  It is versatile and can be paired with almost anything – be it athletic shirts, polos, and dress shirts. It is a handsome, respectable garment that works well on almost every social situation.

While wearing a blazer over a t-shirt can be quite difficult to pull off, doing it with a sport coat is somewhat easier. Keep things stylish by pairing it with a pair of chinos and loafers. For maximum versatility, you’ll want chinos in classic colors. Beige, khaki, navy, and black are your best options.  If you want to smarten up your look, opt for a plain shirt and dark colored trousers.

Chinos are a good alternative. But if you want to hold yourself to a higher standard, we suggest pairing your dress shirt with slacks.

A simple white Oxford dress shirt is ideal for officewear. Keep the button undone for a relaxed, comfortable look. You have the option to wear a jacket and tie. But it’s not advisable to wear a tie without a blazer.

You can leave both the tie and jacket at home, provided that you don’t have an important meeting for the day. Maybe keep a blazer handy and a tie kept in your desk drawer, just in case.

Sweaters are a classic wardrobe item. With the onset of chilly weather, sweater make fine layering pieces. They help keep you warm without the bulk

Bright-colored sweaters can add a pop of color to your outfit. It draws attention to the wearer and can add interest to an otherwise boring outfit. Steer clear from bold patterns as they make smart pieces look more casual.

You may want to balance out the casualness of your top by pairing it with a pair of dress pants rather than chinos. Opt for more conservative colors like camel, gray, and navy. Also, make sure your pants fit well and don’t crease too much around the ankles.

Be the guy that gets business casual right

When you go to work, you are expected to dress up to a certain standard. For decades, a suit has been the standard when it comes to dressing up for a job. Now, things have changed. Business casual is the norm in most offices. It’s the fusion of formalwear and comfortable attire.

A lot of people are confused about this dress code. Please remember that business casual is a dress down from the suit, not dressing up from a casual outfit. You should appear groomed and neat, yet relaxed at the same time.

You need to prioritize fit in order to nail this look. Remember, it is incredibly easy to ruin your outfit with a baggy shirt or pants. You also need to consider your age. The older you are, the more formal your outfit should be.

Dumbell bench press is a staple in every athlete’s training arsenal. This exercise is great if you’re training alone. You don’t have to bother your fellow gym-goers for the occassional spot. The dumbbells can easily be dropped the moment your arms and chest begin to fail you.

If you want to blast your core and increase your overall shoulder and chest strength, you should spend a lot of time performing the traditional bench press.

  1. Lie down on a flat bench with your feet flat on the floor. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, just to the side of your shoulders. In the starting position, the palms of your hands should be facing towards your feet.
  2. Once you’re in position, take a deep breath and press the dumbbells to lockout at the top. Hold for a few seconds and then begin coming down slowly.
  3. Contract the chest and push the dumbbells back to the starting position.
  4. Repeat the movement for the prescribed amount of repetitions of your training program.

  4. Lower the bar to the sternum by flexing the elbows. Maintain control and do not bounce off of your chest. Your lats should stay tight and elbows slightly drawn in.
  5. After touching your torso with the bar, extend the elbows to return the bar to the starting position.

  3. Bend your elbows and raise your upper arms to shoulder height so the dumbbells are at ear level.
  4. Pull your abdominals in so there is a slight cap between the small of your back and the bench.
  5. Place the back of your hand against the pad.
  6. Push the dumbbells up and in until the ends of the dumbbells tough lightly, directly over your head, and then lower the dumbbells back to the ear.

Standing Military Press

Standing Military Press

This old-school exercise has been around since the advent of barbells. The military press will whip your upper body into shape in a hurry.

If you want to build a muscular, strong upper body and push your shoulders to their limits, then you want to do the military press.

  1. Start by placing a barbell that is about chest high on a squat rack. Once you have selected the weights, grab the barbell using pronated grip. Make sure to grip the bar wider than shoulder width apart from each other.
  2. Slightly bend the knees and place the barbell on your collar bone. Lift the barbell up keeping it lying on your chest. Take a step back and position your feet shoulder width apart from each other.
  3. Once you pick up the barbell with the correct grip length, lift the bar up over your head by locking your arms. Hold at about shoulder level and slightly in front of your head. This is your starting position.
  4. Lower the bar down to the collarbone slowly as you inhale.
  5. Lift the bar back up to the starting position as you exhale.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.

Tip: Never go straight into heavy overhead presses. The ball and socket joint of the shoulder and the muscles that surround it are easy to injure. This is one of the quickest ways to do that.

There are only so many hours in the day, though, and with such an overflow of content to choose from what is an anime lover to do? Much as you’d love to watch every show, that would take up all your free time.

1. Dragon Ball

If you are new to anime, or a geek who’s lived under a rock for the last twenty years, you’ve got to watch Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball. While Dragon Ball hasn’t always had the most consistent quality of content, it is certainly one of the most influential and well-known anime shows of all time.

For many anime fans outside of Japan, the Dragon Ball franchise was their first exposure to anime. Dragon Ball initially began as a serialized manga that was published from 1984 to 1995. In 1986 the manga was adapted into an anime television series.

Dragon Ball

This anime was broadcast from 1986 to 1996 and was split into two separate shows: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Later, in 1996, the much-derided sequel series by the name of Dragon Ball GT was released.

The over-arching story of Dragon Ball is inspired by Chinese folklore and depicts the adventures of a boy called Goku. The series follows him from his childhood through becoming an adult as he trains in martial arts and seeks the seven legendary artifacts called the Dragon Balls.

When the Dragon Balls are gathered together, they summon a legendary dragon capable of granting a wish. Much of the series is based around the attempts to gather the balls and protect the artifacts from being taken by an evil person. As the story progresses, Goku grows in maturity and power, and is able to defeat mighty enemies.

A common theme throughout the whole series is defeating the enemy and then befriending them and gaining new allies. You know, like two boys in high school having a knock-down drag-out, then becoming best friends. The original intended audience was boys aged 10 to 18, but the fandom has grown to include pretty much anyone of age, gender, or background.

2. Bleach

Bleach is an anime that ran from 2004 to 2012 is based on the manga of the same name that ran from 2001 to 2016. Since Bleach has run well over 300 episodes, it’s no surprise that there’s a huge cast, and an easy, strong balance between dramatic and comedic elements.

Bleach

Image via cordcutterstalk

Along with Naruto and One Piece, Bleach has been one of the longest-running manga/anime series. The plot of Bleach follows the life of a Japanese high school student by the name of Ichigo Kurosaki who gains the power of a Shinigami – a being whose job is to guide spirits to the afterlife – from a female Shinigami by the name of Rukia Kuchiki.

Because of this accidental gifting of power, Rukia becomes a normal human and Ichigo takes up her job of directing good spirits to heaven and defending his hometown from evil spirits. As the story unfolds, many of Ichigo’s friends discover they have powers and use them to help him protect their home and unravel plots to destroy both human and the spirit world.

The one drawback of Bleach is that it’s currently incomplete. But while the final arc of the manga was never adapted into the anime, there is still a great run of 16 seasons to enjoy. It should be noted that the creator of Bleach, Tite Kubo, cites Dragon Ball as being one of his major influences when he started drawing the manga for Bleach.

3. Trigun

Trigun is a space-western-steampunk-spaghetti show with both a religious and spiritual sensibility. The 26-episode anime aired in 1998 and is a partial adaption of the two series of manga that ran from 1995 to 2007.

Around halfway through the anime, the story begins to diverge from the manga and follows a partial outline that the manga creator, Yasuhiro Nightow, created at the time.

Trigun

Image via technobuffalo

The over-arching story is set on an alien planet in the far future where the survivors of a cataclysm of the earth have settled and developed a society like the American Old West. The most infamous outlaw on this planet is a man called Vash the Stampede, who has a 60-billion-dollar bounty on his head.

As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that despite being the most wanted man alive, Vash is an ardent pacifist with a love of doughnuts and a philosophy of preaching “Love and peace.”

Doing his best to avoid gunfights with the endless amount of bounty hunters after him, Vash and his friends gradually uncover the mysteries of the world on which they live and the spaceships that brought their ancestors there.

4. Cowboy Bebop

The best way to describe Cowboy Bebop is to think of a space western meets film noir with a jazz soundtrack created in heaven. Cowboy Bebop had a 26-episode run that lasted from 1998 to 1999. It was based on the manga of the same name that consisted of two volumes.

Upon its release, the series was both a critical and commercial smash hit in both Japan and throughout the world. The series won numerous awards and has been called a masterpiece, often considered to be the pinnacle of the anime genre.

Cowboy Bebop

Image via dailycal

Because of the amazing storyline, incredible soundtrack, and wonderful characters, some critics have deemed Cowboy Bebop the best anime “gateway series” for introducing not-yet-fans to the anime genre as a whole.

The story of Cowboy Bebop takes place in 2071 and follows the lives of a bounty hunting group on their ship called Bebop. Earth has been abandoned and people have taken to colonizing the planets and moons in the solar system. As crime rises in the solar system, the police bring back the concept of wild west bounty hunters and call them “cowboys.”

The main characters are part of this group of bounty hunters, and the story follows their exploits throughout the solar system. Besides containing an obscene amount of musical references, the story is notable for being dark, and gritty, and for deep exploration into the concepts of existentialism and loneliness.

As noted above, Cowboy Bebop’s soundtrack is famous for its incredibly diverse and colorful sound. This is thanks to the composer, Yoko Kanno.

Yoko Kanno is an extremely versatile composer and musician who has put together the soundtracks for an extensive list of anime, video games, and films, and has composed pop music for various artists. Due to her unique ability to compose in practically any genre and her body of work, she is one of Japan’s most famous composers.

5. Persona 4 The Animation And Persona 4 The Golden Animation

Persona 4 the Animation and Persona 4 the Golden Animation are adaptations of the best-selling game by Atlus. Persona 4 the Animation was released as a 25-episode run in 2011, with a movie to wrap up the story in 2012. Persona 4 the Golden is a 12-episode series which presents a twist on various scenarios and introduces new characters into the Persona 4 story.

Persona 4 the Animation and Persona 4 the Golden Animation

Image via draculascave

Persona 4’s story is about a teenager by the name of Yu Narukami who moves to the rural Japanese town of Inaba. Within days of arrival in the town, a serial murderer begins killing people. During their daily lives, Yu and his friends discover a mysterious world that exists behind televisions.

The teenagers discover a link between the murders and the TV world and take it upon themselves to investigate and try to find the culprit. As the investigation goes on, the teenagers confront their personality flaws and fears as they unlock the mysterious power of Persona.

It should be noted that the music was composed by the Persona video game composer Shoji Meguro. Like every other soundtrack Meguro has worked on, the music for Persona 4 is a genre-hopping joy to behold – and one of the absolute best anime soundtracks you’ll find anywhere.

If you enjoy collecting soundtracks, then this is one to keep an eye out for.

6. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the second adaptation of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga. The anime is a 64-episode series that ran from 2009 through 2010. It is an adaptation of the 27-volume manga that ran from 2001 through 2010.

The first anime adaptation was simply named Fullmetal Alchemist and was a very loose adaption of the original story. The second series was conceived with the intent of being a more faithful adaptation.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Image via magnuzone

The story of the anime is set in a world reminiscent of the European industrial revolution where the strongest power is the magic of alchemy. Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, are orphans who are both prodigies at the art of alchemy.

After losing their mother to an illness the brothers travel the world to grow in power. Eventually they return home to try and bring her back to life. Due to a mistake in the alchemy, Alphonse loses his body and Edward suffers the loss of his left leg.

To keep his brother alive, Edward sacrifices his right arm to place Alphonse’s soul in a suit of armor.  Eventually, Edward acquires magic-powered prosthetics for his missing limbs and the two brothers set out on a quest to become state-sanctioned alchemists.

7. Neon Genesis Evangelion

To simply call Neon Genesis Evangelion an anime about human-controlled robots fighting monsters is akin to simply calling Apocalypse Now a popcorn summer blockbuster. From the outset, this 26-episode anime was intended to delve deep into both psychology and examinations of Abrahamic religions.

The story of Neon Genesis Evangelion takes place fifteen years after a global cataclysm. The main character is a teenage boy named Shinji who is recruited to pilot a giant cyborg called an Evangelion to help combat invasions from giant alien monsters called Angels.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Image via polygon

The series examines the emotional states of the teenage pilots as they wage war and begin to uncover the hidden agendas of the government agency that trained them to fight.

Part of what propelled the series to its height of popularity is the controversy surrounding the original ending of the series. The trifecta of parents complaining of the series’ violence, budgetary constraints, and the series director’s battle with depression led to the creation of an extremely abstract ending that mostly consisted of still images, photographs, simple line drawings, and voice-overs.

In 1997, two animated feature-length films were released in order to restore the ending that was originally envisioned. The original run of Neon Genesis Evangelion was from 1995 to 1996 and was a critical and commercial smash.

At the time it aired, the anime industry was in a slump and Neon Genesis Evangelion has been credited with helping revive the industry. The series has had a significant cultural impact around the world, helping to spread Japanese otaku culture, and to also establish anime as a subject worth taking seriously.

What Is A Tattoo?

Technically speaking, a tattoo is a form of body modification created by using needles inserted into dye, ink, or other permanent pigmentation.

For a long time, Western culture has seen tattoos as uncivilized and inappropriate for people of “standing,” partially because of the long history of using tattoos as a form marking slaves, criminals, those of unsavory occupations, and other negative connotations.

Tattoo

In the past century, however, this attitude towards tattoos has gradually disintegrated among most Westerners, though those still living from previous generations may still regard tattoos as a symbol of “wrong living” in some way.

Types Of Tattoos

There are five recognized types of tattoos.

Traumatic Tattoos

Traumatic tattoos are tattoos that occur naturally through events of a person’s life. Examples of a traumatic tattoo could include something like a coal miner developing a black mark from coal dust infiltrating an open wound. The wound eventually heals around the coal dust and the miner is left with a black mark.

Other injuries, like motorcycle accidents that leave permanent black markings from the asphalt, or injuries caused by pencil leads, are also considered traumatic tattoos.

Amateur Tattoos

Amateur tattoos are created by non-professionals. A common example of these are prison tattoos.

Cosmetic Tattoos

Cosmetic Tattoos

Cosmetic tattoos are things like permanent makeup. You can get these tattoos at various boutiques around your area. Be sure to check out the better business bureau rating and Yelp reviews before entrusting your face into the hands of someone who’s going to permanently put on some eyebrows or eyeliner.

Medical Tattoos

Medical tattoos are actually used to treat various illnesses. For example, after someone has breast cancer treatment including a mastectomy, tattooing may be used to replace the areola which was removed during surgery.

Medical tattoos have also been used in times of war, to mark soldiers and others with their blood types, and other pertinent information that might affect their medical treatment if found unconscious.

Professional Tattoos

Professional tattoos are applied by professional tattoo artists, whether by hand or machine.

Styles Of Tattoos

Generally speaking, tattoos can be any of three styles of tattoo: decorative, pictorial, or symbolic.

Pictorial Tattoos

Pictorial Tattoos

Image via tattoolife

Pictorial tattoos depict specific people, events, or items. This would include things like a tattoo of Marilyn Monroe, Superman, the sword of William Wallace, the Justice League Watchtower, or the signing of the American Constitution.

Symbolic Tattoos

Symbolic tattoos have very specific meaning to the person wearing the tattoo.

Symbolic Tattoos

Image via nextluxury

This might include something like someone discovering his Jewish heritage and getting a tattoo of the Star of David to symbolize his acceptance and unity with his ancestors.

Decorative Tattoos

Decorative Tattoos

Image via tattoostime

Decorative tattoos have no specific meaning or symbolism for the wearer. That could be something like someone getting a rose tattoo, simply because they’re pretty, or wearing a tattoo of an eagle just because the image looked cool.

A Brief History Of Tattoos

Tattoos have been around since about 10,000 B.C.E. They’ve taken on many forms throughout history, and meant different things for different people over those years.

Throughout history, tattoos have been used to symbolize any of these things:

  • Criminal convictions – both to mark someone as a convicted criminal and as a “badge of honor” for some who have been convicted of various violent crimes

  • Slavery – tattoos were often given to slaves to prevent them from running away and claiming to be freemen

  • Religious markings – some ancient Egyptian and Syrian religions marked their dedicated worshippers

  • Military markings – some ancient armies marked their soldiers to indicate their loyalties

  • Cultural markings – some groups in India and Indonesia have had cultural tattoos as a part of their history since ancient times

  • Decorative purposes – some cultures, like early Japan, used tattoos to decorate their bodies

  • Social markings – some cultures also marked citizens of various classes with tattoos to indicate their social status

  • Occupational markings – some workers in specific occupations in Japan between 1603 and 1868 wore markings to indicate that they were firemen, prostitutes, and manual laborers

  • Nazi markings – many who were forced into camps during the Holocaust were marked with tattoos to identify people as occupants of concentration camps

Various other cultures and types of markings have existed over the years, including very specific, famous tattoos, such as the Tā moko markings of the Maori indigenous peoples of New Zealand, and the Marquesan tattoos from the Marquesas islands in the South Pacific.

A History Of Superheroes And DC Comics

The first superhero was created by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the author of the famous The Scarlett Letter, and The House of the Seven Gables. His superhero, the Grey Champion, came to light in 1835 when his adventures first appeared in the New England Magazine.

The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck

Image via Wikimedia Commons

Two years later, The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck was published in France and is believed to be the first comic book in existence.

From there, comic books such as Fortunes of Ferdinand Flipper, The Adventures of Mr. Tom Plump, and Journey to the Gold Diggings came about, and crossed the decades leading into what most of us would consider the golden era of comic book history, starting in 1928 with Buck Rogers, reaching to post World War II with the various characters we all know and love.

Batman In DC Comics

The Batman comics first started hitting the newsstands and store shelves in 1939, when he made his first appearance in the Detective Comics #27. The first dedicated Batman comic appeared one year later.

The first Batman film to be released was in 1943, produced by Columbia Pictures. The film was simply titled Batman and starred Lewis Wilson.

Detective Comics

Since that time, Batman has appeared in something like 14 Batman films and DC Comics related films, including the Suicide Squad and the Justice League. There have been a large number of animated films and television shows about Batman since 1933, and a few live action television shows.

A large number of well-known actors have starred as Batman throughout the years, including Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Adam West, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, and Ben Affleck.

Most folks have a favorite actor as Batman, though the sidekicks, secondary characters, and villains have had at least much impact on the popularity of a given film or television show.

We all want to make a good impression. Since appearance has become an asset of today’s lives, most people strive to look good. Paying attention to your hair and skin is a must if you want to become more attractive. Great looking hair meant proper hair care for men.

Healthy hair is important to make any hairstyle look great. Use these hair care for men tips to maintain the health of your locks. Treat it right and you’ll have healthy and awesome mane for years to come.

hair care for men

Don’t overwash your hair

Shampoo works like a cleanser. It washes away the grime and product buildup. However, excessive shampooing can be bad for your hair. Daily washing can strip natural oils off your scalp, leaving your hair dry, brittle, more prone to breakage.

No one wants greasy hair. As it turns out, a little bit of hair grease is actually healthy. Every time you wash your hair, you’re washing away your natural sebum. Your body responds by producing more of it. The more frequently you wash your hair, the more oil is produced. It’s good to shower daily, but you’re not supposed to shampoo your hair daily.

You want some oils to remain in your hair and scalp. Sebum keeps your hair soft, easy to manage, and protects your mane from the environment. As such, we suggest that you limit shampooing to three to four times a week.

Condition, condition, condition

We all want soft, shiny, and healthy hair. Unfortunately, most people would describe their hair as dull, dry, and unhealthy. To improve the condition of your hair, you should make regular conditioning a part of your hair care routine.

Make sure that you condition your hair every time you wash it. Not only will it make your hair softer and more manageable, it also prevents tangling and breakage.

Use clarifying shampoo

You may think you have no need for hair detox. But if you usually apply some styling products on your hair or if you color your hair, then you may want to consider adding a clarifying shampoo to your hair care routine.

If you use styling products regularly, the wax, silicone, and other ingredients may coat your strands. Over time, they could build up on top of the other and may clog the pores in your scalp; thereby, leaving you with dull, lackluster locks. In this case, it would be beneficial to occasionally work in a clarifying shampoo into your hair care regimen to remove product buildup.

Hair care for men must include a good clarifying shampoo. It will remove impurities in your hair, making it look full of life again.

Take a cold shower

Nothing is more relaxing than a long, hot shower. However, hot water can dry out your scalp and ruin your hair. When you wash your hair with water that is too hot, you’re removing more oil from your scalp, making your hair more brittle and prone to breakage.

If you want your hair to appear shinier and healthier, we suggest that you wash your hair with cool water. Cold water temporarily tightens skin and prevents it from being stripped of its healthy natural oils too quickly. Not only will it make your hair stronger, healthier, and shinier, it will also improve your skin.

If you aren’t comfortable with cold showers, then go ahead and bathe with warm water. Make sure, though, that you rinse your hair with cold water.

Less is more

Styling products like gel and wax can help keep your hair in place. But too much of it will leave your hair messy and greasy. Plus, it can weigh your hair down.

When it comes to hair products, less is more. Place a pea-sized amount in your palm and then add more as needed. Always rub the product between your hands before applying it to your hair. This is to ensure that your locks are receiving equal attention and that the product is more evenly distributed.

Dry your hair gently

Thin is a word most people don’t want to associate with their hair. Although heredity and stress are the most common causes of hair fall, some bad habits may also ruin your hair. One good example of which is how you dry your hair.

Most people have the habit of drying their hair feverishly with a towel upon stepping out of the shower. It is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get rid of excess moisture. However, it can damage your hair and can possibly make it fall out. Our hair is at its weakest when wet. Meaning, it is more susceptible to damage. Rubbing your wet head with a towel can potentially lead to breakage. Plus, it can rough up the cuticle, causing it to look frizzy.

Towels are made of tough fibers, but the towel itself won’t cause harm to your hair. If you rub it too hard against your hair, it can cause tension and eventually lead to breakage. To prevent damage, use an old shirt or a microfibre towel when drying your hair. Most importantly, do it gently.

Eat healthy

Your hair is a reflection of your overall health. Although good hair care for men practices can help improve the condition of your hair, you also need to eat healthy maintain strong, shiny, and healthy-looking hair.

Proper nutrition is important for healthy hair. Your hair cells need a balance of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals for better hair and scalp health. Make sure that your diet is composed of lean meat, poultry, fish, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Nourish your hair inside and out by eating healthy, nutrient-rich foods. A healthy diet combined with proper hair care for men are a must for healthy, luscious locks.

Essential hair care for men

Good grooming goes beyond following a skin care routine. Besides taking care of your skin, you also need to take care of your hair. Follow the tips above and you’ll see the difference on how awesome your hair looks.

Having your own workout space with home gym equipment has its advantages. It takes a lot of resolve to stick to a routine that might include dragging yourself out to the local rec center where you have to battle with senior citizens for a 15 minute slot on the rowing machine.

If you have the hardened determination to get your butt to the gym every other day without fail – or a swanky gym one floor down in your apartment, then this article isn’t for you. I don’t have either of those, and it’s for that reason that I’ve started a collection of gear for my own home gym. I find that I have less of an excuse for sitting on my butt when there’s a TV downstairs with the same channels on it.

Here are home gym equipment you may want to invest on. These equipment won’t cost you a huge sum of money. Plus, they are easy to use and won’t take up too much room in your home gym.

Chin up bar

Home gym equipment: Chin up bar

This is probably one of the better purchases you can make. Don’t be discouraged if this home gym equipment is difficult to use at first, especially if you’re not too great at this kind of thing. Seriously. If you can do 3 sets of 12 on your first try, let me know and I’ll be very impressed.

Get one that’s a little more complex for additional exercise possibilities. Try to do 25 reps every morning and evening, and you’ll be suitably impressed with your investment.

Bosu Ball

Home gym equipment: Bosu Ball

Flip it upside down and do push ups on it. Lay it flat for core exercises and squats. Or better yet, go for any of many, many different uses that I won’t get into right now.

The Bosu might be one of your later investments if you see yourself developing a need for it. Until then, maybe stick with the huge range of equipment-less core exercises that there are out there. Of course, you could always structure your entire workout around it.

Skipping Rope

Home gym equipment: Skipping Rope

Skipping rope is one of the easiest ways to burn calories. In fact, you can burn at least 300 calories in half an hour of skipping. It helps if your roof isn’t too low. Otherwise, you may want to do it outside. It’s a great workout option during the winter months, when the weather is frightening and you can’t go out for a run or ride your bike. Plus, it’s a lot cheaper than a treadmill.

TV

Home gym equipment: TV

I said it earlier… it’s a lot easier to get yourself moving when there’s no reason to stay on the couch. It’s always best to have a separate room for your TV/workout room combo. But if you can’t, then store all of your equipment in an easy to reach location in your regular TV room. Let it call you when you’re feeling lazy.

Push up grips

Home gym equipment: Push up grips

This was one of my first purchases on the home gym front. Although you don’t need them to do push ups, they really get your whole arm involved in the process. It feels like you’re doing more than when you do traditional push ups. Plus, they’re a lot easier on the wrists.

Layering

Winter weather can be unpredictable. One day it’s as cold as hell, the next balmy. Since it’s hard to tell what the weather will bring, you need to dress smart to stay warm throughout the season. Layering is key to protecting yourself from the outside elements. But there are some pretty adventurous layering ideas going on in the upper echelons of the fashion industry right now.

2018 menswear sent a clear message this year: more is more. In fact, the models were wearing so many garments, they appeared five times bigger than usual.

The trend may be difficult to emulate. But if you’d like to wear the layered trend, grab a trench coat in a neutral tone and mix it with other items already in your closet. This will give you quick and dirty layered look. Hugo Boss topped suits and tailored blazers with their traditional gray oversized trench.

Men’s fashion trends come and go. This season, the 1980s fashion is back in a big way. In fact, power suiting, wild animal prints, sequins galore, and even shoulder pads were all over the Fall 2018 runways.

Love it or hate it, there is no doubt that 80s fashion is coming on strong. Whether you opt for power suiting and oversized shoulders from Givenchy and Versace or oversized outerwear from Marc Jacobs,

big and bold is the name of the game this season.

Brown is the new black

Brown is the new black

Brown has been shunned by the masses for years. Most people think of it as drab and ugly. But things are taking an interesting turn as more and more people are starting to embrace this under-appreciated hue. In fact, brown is the new black for men’s autumn fashion 2018.

The beauty of the chocolate takeover is that brown brown looks good on everyone. From chocolate, to beige, taupe, walnut, and tan, there is something to suit all taste. The key is to find the right shade for you.

Get on board with this season’s hot chocolate trend. You’d be surprised what this low-key earth tone can do for your style.

Winter brights

Neon is a trend no one can ignore this season. Designers like Armani, Louis Vuitton, Jeremy Scott, and Brandon Maxwell lit up the runways as they showcased a colorful selection of ultra bright pieces. Their collection made a very strong case for ditching neutral palette in favor of some vivid hues. Now, neon is one of the biggest men’s fashion trends for fall and winter.

Winter is often full of dreary shades of brown, black, and gray . Winter fashion will no longer be dull and boring this season with the introduction of bold and bright colors into everyday outfit. It is best worn as a standout pop of color against a beige, gray, navy or black outfit.

Add a pop of neon detailing to shift the entire feel of an outfit. Choose one clothing item and let it shout. Don’t overdo it. One is enough.

Leather is in

Men's fashion trends: Leather

Patent leather is one of the biggest men’s fashion trends this fall 2018. In fact, it is the most dominant of all fabrics this season.

Leather comes in so many shapes, silhouettes, and looks. It can be boots, jacket, pants, vest, or any other accessory. Big designer brands such as Givenchy, Hermes, and Valentino featured the material in different colors and silhouettes.

Leather jackets are a great way to toughen up your look. Pair it with a black shirt. This works well for an evening or going out look. If you’re quite fancy and you want to smarten up your look, try mixing your leather jacket with tailored trousers.

Shearling

Shearling

Shearling jackets are crafted from the actual skin of a sheep or lamb. It is the perfect way to embrace the colder months in comfort. But if cost and ecology plays a part in your decision making, faux shearling is a great alternative. They look as good as the real thing, and save you money in the process.

Givenchy, Dries Van Noten, and Gucci all featured luxurious faux options. They pledged not to use real fur and lived up to their promise.

For a versatile, off-duty look, consider a shearling curduroy jacket. The darker color of the exterior comands less attention, but still retains that classic style. You may also wear it with a classic pair of denim jeans, alongside a crewneck shirt.

Logomania

Men's fashion trends: Logo Mania

We’ve received a memo that logomania has returned. This time, it’s bolder than ever. It’s the perfect way for referencing the season without the need to deveop new lines.

Following the success of Gucci side-striped tracksuits, big fashion houses are assuming the style heritage they rejected for so long. This time, the runways were packed with slogans and brands positioned vertically on jackets or running down the side of pants.

You may be familiar with Minecraft as the popular sandbox/survival video game played by both kids and adults, but did you know that it can also be used to create stunning and outlandish pieces of pixel art?

20 Craziest Minecraft Pixel Art Pieces

A quick Google search will pull of hundreds and hundreds of crazy Minecraft pixel art pieces, but for the sake of conciseness, we will just focus on 20 of the craziest and most impressive pieces out there.

1. BlizzCon 2010 Wallpaper Recreation

Back in 2015, the self-described “Pixel Art King” Thorlar Thorlarian broke a world record at the time when he used a whopping 1.1 million blocks to recreate a dazzling wallpaper design from BlizzCon, which is an annual convention held by video game company Blizzard.

It took him 23 weeks to complete the project, and even more impressively, he did the entire piece by hand. He livestreamed the unveiling of the piece to thousands and thousands of Twitch users and ended up raking in about $3,500 for charity.

How’s that for a crazy piece of Minecraft pixel art?

2. The Mona Lisa

If you want to check out the actual Mona Lisa painting, you need to make the trip over to France and then go to the Louvre, where you’ll probably have to wait in a long line. Honestly, who really wants to deal with all that hassle? Save money on plane tickets and enjoy the Mona Lisa from the comfort of your home with this Minecraft pixel art recreation.

Ok, maybe it’s not as good as the real thing, but it’s still pretty impressive, right?

3. The Instagram Logo

These days, the Instagram logo is probably one of the most recognizable logos out there. And while it may not look like it’s that difficult to recreate, this Minecraft pixel artist did a pretty stellar job adding shadow and detail to the logo to make it look larger than life. It looks more like a massive monument than just a mere logo, doesn’t it?

4. King’s Landing From “Game Of Thrones”

If you’ve ever seen Game of Thrones (and honestly, who hasn’t by this point?), then you know that King’s Landing is a vast and intricate kingdom that most Minecraft pixel artists would probably not even bother attempting to undertake. One artist not only attempted a pixelated rendering of King’s Landing, but pulled off a breathtaking creation that you wouldn’t believe.

On top of recreating King’s Landing, this artist has a host of Game of Thrones-inspired pixel art that you absolutely need to check out.

5. The Battlestar Galactica

What Game of Thrones is to fantasy fans, Battlestar Galactica is to science fiction fans, and one look at this recreation of the eponymous Battlestar Galactica spaceship will have even the most casual fan of the show completely awestruck.

This intricate art piece required more than five million blocks. This thing is pretty close to the real deal with working lifts, control rooms, a hanger deck, and other interior spaces. It’s really a Minecraft marvel.

6. The House from Pixar’s “Up”

If you’ve ever seen the Pixar movie Up (and if you’ve never seen it, we highly recommended it. Just be sure you’re stocked up on tissues.), then you’re familiar with the focal point of the film: the balloon house

One Minecraft artist’s tribute to the house is nothing short of extraordinary. Not only is the outside of the house a perfect recreation, but you can actually check out the interior of the house as well, where the attention to detail is equally as impressive. Pixar needs to hire this artist, pronto!

7. The Minecraft Box

Sure, this is pretty meta, but you know that someone was bound to do it.

8. Plane Crash

Reminiscent of a scene from the hit show Lost, this Minecraft pixel artist’s rendering of a plane crash may not present the most uplifting scene, but if we’re talking straight-up artistic value, it’s actually quite well done.

9. The Tower of Babel

If you’re acquainted at all with biblical history, you probably know that the story of the Tower of Babel tackles the origin myth of how humans came to speak different languages. Of course, at the center of that myth is the tower itself, and this artist’s rendering of the tower is pretty close to biblical proportions.

According to the blueprint provided by the artist, the rendering includes more than 7 million blocks, 100 floors, and 90,000 lights. Just a quick look through the interior will show the great attention to detail. This is one seriously impressive piece.

10. Marine Traffic World

While most Minecraft artistic renderings tend to be based on some other existing work, one Minecraft artist tried his hand at something completely original, which he referred to as Marine Traffic World.

According to the artist, it took months and months for him to develop his ocean world filled with a whole host of ships. If you take a quick scroll through this massive project page, you’ll see that the artist made two container ships, a survey ship, a lighthouse, a research vessel, a helicopter, an oil terminal, a fishing port, a yacht, and several ferries.

Marine Traffic World, indeed!

11. “Sonic the Hedgehog” Mini Game

Both a work of art and a playable game, this Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired game really is quite incredible. If you’ve ever played Sonic the Hedgehog, you know that this artist actually did a pretty stellar job capturing its essence, as the mini game contains power-ups, checkpoints, and spring-loaded pressure plates.

12. Pixel Eye

Who knew that something as simple as an eye could look so dazzling as a Minecraft pixel art piece? Sure, the artist didn’t create an entire world or a towering structure, but the precision and striking color balance of the image is extremely impressive nonetheless.

13. Pope Francis

We guess they call him the “cool pope” for a reason, because Pope Francis has his very own Minecraft pixel art portrait.

14. The Space Shuttle

Houston, we have an art piece. There’s absolutely no problem with this amazing recreation of the Space Shuttle, as this artist’s use of layers and impressive shadowing work really makes this pixelated piece pop.

This is just one of dozens and dozens of renderings of the Space Shuttle, each one offering a slightly different and unique take on space exploration. For a bonus art piece, take a look at this Minecraft artist’s crack at the Space Shuttle. Just check out that magnificent sunset that the artist included. Isn’t that something?

15. Working Computer With RAM

So, this may be hard to wrap your head around (it’s a little hard for us to grasp, if we’re being honest), but one Minecraft artist was somehow able to find a way to build an actual functioning computer in Minecraft.

Basically, the half artist, half computer scientist used something known as redstone circuitry to make a computer that performs division, displays hexadecimal notation, and loads 16 lines of code into RAM. Speaking of the Space Shuttle, someone needs to get this person a job at NASA!

16. War Machine And Megazord

If you know anything about comic books or Power Rangers, you’ll recognize War Machine as one of the buddies of Marvel’s Iron Man and Megazord as the battle robot that all five Power Rangers combine to form.

Well, one artist decided to do a crossover of sorts when he recreated both characters for this Minecraft art project. We never thought about it until now, but having these two team up wouldn’t make for a half-bad comic book. You’re welcome, Marvel.

17. Minas Tirith From “The Lord Of The Rings”

We’ve already included Games of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica, so why not throw in The
Lord of the Rings for good measure? The location of the epic battle from Return of the King, Minas Tirith is recreated in all its splendor thanks to one artist’s painstaking attention to detail.

18. Minecraft Interstate

Now, this is a regular marvel of Minecraft engineering. It took the artist two months to render this interstate, which takes you on an eight-mile, 30-minute mine cart ride in-game. When it was first created back in 2010, it even managed to impress Minecraft creator Markus Persson. That’s how you know you’ve made it as a Minecraft artist.

19. “My Little Pony” Characters

Say what you will about My Little Pony, but one artist’s two-dimensional creations inspired by the kid’s cartoon are still exceedingly remarkable. It took between 10,000 and 50,000 blocks for the artist to create each character, resulting in a collection that is pretty impressive, to say the least.

20. Mousecraft

It’s a one-bedroom apartment from a mouse’s point of view. Need we say more?

Appreciating Minecraft Pixel Art

Minecraft pixel art is not your most traditional art form, but as you can see, it does require some painstaking attention to detail, and the finished products tend to be nothing short of extraordinary. From massively expansive worlds to awe-inspiring structures to simple-yet-detailed portraits, the sky’s the limit when it comes to Minecraft’s pixelated potential.

If you ever feel inspired to take a crack at some Minecraft art yourself, then there are a number of different how-to guides online that can give you step-by-step instructions on how to make some eye-popping Minecraft images.

But, if you’re just interested in simply appreciating the art form, there are plenty and plenty of examples out there for your viewing pleasure. We highly recommended checking out as many pieces as you can because they’re absolutely wonderful to look at.

If you’re looking to change up your look a little bit, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a new wardrobe or fancy accessories. Sometimes, something as simple as a new facial hair style can take you leaps and bounds when it comes to looking and feeling your best.

But with so many different facial hair styles out there, which one should you go with?

10 Best Facial Hair Styles

While there are a number of different facial hair styles you can rock at any given time, here are 10 that may be the best for you.

1. The Few-Day Stubble Beard

This is one of the easiest styles to pull off in that it’s pretty simple to grow and maintain, and it’s perfect for all face shapes. To achieve this look from a clean-shaven face, all you have to do is go about a maximum of three days without shaving (depending on how quickly your beard grows), and then use a trimmer to maintain.

When rocking this look, you will want to make sure that your neck is cleaned up (trimming or taking a razor to any hair that grows below the Adam’s apple is a good rule of thumb) and that any hair that grows just above your cheekbone is shaved or trimmed.

Depending on how scruffy you want your stubble beard to look, you can either use a two-millimeter (short stubble), a four-millimeter (medium stubble), or six-millimeter attachment trimmer comb. If you want that shorter stubble look, you should trim about every two days, whereas a medium stubble look necessitates a trim about every week or so.

For that longer stubble look, you can go as long as two weeks before trimming, but make sure you’re getting rid of any longer hairs that pop up in the meantime.

2. The Balbo

Perfect for guys with more narrow chins, the Balbo is a beard without sideburns and that has a trimmed, floating mustache. Robert Downey Jr. has been known to rock this style from time to time, so it’s definitely fairly popular.

If you want to pull off this look, you will need to grow a full beard first. Wait at least about four weeks until you begin the beard sculpting process. Once you have enough beard to work with, you will need to utilize some quality razors, both of the electric and straight razor variety.

To get that perfect Balbo look, you need a steady and precise hand, so if this is something you’re willing to undertake yourself, be patient.

3. The Van Dyke

Perfect for guys with narrow chins, this facial hair style was popularized by 17th century Flemish painter Anthony Van Dyke and is a mixture of a goatee and a mustache. Achieving this beard type requires delicate care and precision.

First, wait until your beard gets a decent amount of stubble. Then, using a good razor, shave all of the hair off your cheeks, neck, and sideburns. Leaving the mustache completely unaffected, form you beard in the chin region by making what can best be described as an inverted T.

Next, allow the beard on your chin to grow until it reaches about two inches. Finally, be sure to trim every once and a while to get that ideal V shape.

4. The Imperial

Popularized during the 2nd Empire, the Imperial is a mustache style that is perfect for oblong or rectangular faces. While it is normally worn as a standalone mustache, it can also be incorporated with chin beards or sideburns. Just make sure that, if you do decide to have some accompanying facial hair, the mustache remains the focal point.

To achieve this look, go as long as you can without shaving, so that you have thick enough whiskers that can be properly shaped. Many growers of the Imperial wait as long as three months to get that perfect look.

You want to make sure that the hair near your mustache is shaved, but don’t trim the mustache itself. An untrimmed mustache is absolutely crucial to maintaining that natural look.

Finally, and this is the main feature of the Imperial, you will want to use either mustache wax or beard oil to curl the ends of the mustache. The end result will have you looking as fancy as ever.

5. The Circle Beard

Ideal for round and oval faces, the circle beard (also referred to as the “standard” beard), is a tidy and presentable mixture of a rounded goatee beard and a mustache.

For this look, you will want to go a fairly decent amount of time without shaving to ensure that your facial hair is properly thick. Once it’s time to sculpt that circle beard style, most guys will go to a salon to get it properly shaped, since it can be tricky to get that circle shape down pat.

But, with the right amount of precision and patience as well as the perfect combination of shaving and trimming, you can achieve the circle beard look on your own.

6. The Full Beard

Most guys who are looking to grow beards prefer the full beard. Unfortunately, not every guy can grow a full beard, since it’s pretty much dependent on genetics.

For those who can achieve it, it is best suited for triangle, inverted triangle, or diamond face shapes. To best attain the full beard look, allow your facial hair to grow until it’s at around a medium stubble length and then shape it with a razor. Wait until six weeks before shaving, and then trim to keep the beard at the appropriate length.

7. The Extended Goatee

Guys with either oval or square face shapes are best suited for the extended goatee, which is also known as the Hollywoodian or the tailback. A combination of a mustache and a goatee, this style is unlike the full beard in that it requires you to take the hair off of your sideburns.

Before shaping your beard into an extended goatee, be sure to grow your facial hair to medium stubble. Then, while making sure you keep your mustache completely intact, trim your facial hair to your preferred width.

8. The Mutton Chops

Also referred to as sideburns or side whiskers, mutton chops were popularized by famous Civil War general Ambrose Burnside (who gave us the term “sideburn” to begin with).

Best for square or circular face shapes, this facial hair style is achieved by allowing your mustache and sideburns to grow until they meet up. You will want to be sure that you shave all the hair on your chin until your lower lip region.

For added effect, let your sideburns grow out until they become extra fluffy.

9. The Garibaldi

Best for rectangular or oval faces, the Garibaldi has a wild and unkempt look to it, but it does work for some guys.

To accomplish this facial hair style, you’ll need to let your beard grow for a long time. We’re talking about four months, or until it gets to be around 20 centimeters. To give it that round look, make sure that you shape and trim the lower area.

Despite having so much beard to work with, it’s actually best if you don’t use any styling products, so that the beard keeps its natural look. You will want to make sure you keep your eye on your mustache length though, as a mustache that is too long will take the focus away from the beard itself.

10. Clean Shaven

Hey, technically being clean shaven is a facial hair style, despite there not being any hair on your face. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to rock a clean look every once and a while.

Choosing The Right Style Of Facial Hair For You

When deciding on the right facial hair style for you, there are several things you should think about. For one, you want to take the shape of your face into consideration. Depending on if you have a more square-shaped face or a rounder face or more rectangular face, some facial hair styles may work better than others.

You will also want to take your beard-growing capabilities into account. Not all beard-havers are created equal, and while some guys can grow hair on pretty much every inch of their face, others might have particular spots that just don’t grow in. Obviously, not being able to grow facial hair in certain areas will disqualify you from pulling off certain looks, so be sure to keep that in mind.

Additionally, you will want to consider your budget. Some facial hair styles will require you to get certain products, whether it be beard oil or a full-on trimming kit, to maintain the style. Simply put, the longer the beard, the more time and money you need to put into grooming it.

Finally, you will want to choose the style or styles that look best on you. Suggest to a significant other or to close friends or family members what look you’re considering going with. If they react strongly one way or another, you should have a pretty solid idea public opinion-wise.

Bottom line though, it has to be a style that you feel confident rocking. If you think you can pull it off, then by all means give it a try. If it’s not getting the reaction you were hoping for, then you can just shave it all off and start from scratch.

Most single guys and gals these days would probably prefer to be able to just head to the closest bar and get a date through some casual flirting over a couple beers. But, being that it’s 2018, the dating game doesn’t quite the work the same way that it used to.

Sure, you can still score a date when you’re out and about, but when you couple busy schedules with advancements in social media, folks are much more inclined to choose the convenient route when it comes to dating.

With the advent of dating apps such as Tinder, a quick swipe, a few good pictures, a well-written bio, and a clever pickup line or two can go a long way in scoring you that next date. “Easier said than done,” you’re probably thinking. Well, racking up those Tinder dates doesn’t have to be as challenging as it seems.

What Makes For A Good Tinder Pickup Line?

For a Tinder pickup line to be effective and at least pique someone’s interest, it should either be funny, clever, flirtatious, or a combination of all three. You don’t want to overthink a pickup line, but you shouldn’t just fire off the first thing that comes to your head either.

Just like with anything, first impressions are crucial, and if you don’t grab someone’s attention from that first message, then that person could go right back to swiping for other matches.

So, how do you find that sweet spot of sending that attention-grabbing pickup line without trying too hard? These best pickup lines should hopefully help to move you in the right direction.

The 6 Best Types Of Pickup Lines

There a number of quality pickup lines that you can use at any given time, but here, we will focus on just six types that may work the best for you.

1. The Cheesy Pickup Line

This is the type of line that usually elicits a few groans and eye rolls, but you’d be surprised at how far a cheesy pickup line can actually go in breaking the ice. What exactly constitutes a cheesy pickup line? You probably recognize a few of these:

Tinder pickup lines

“Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see.”

“You better call life alert, because I’ve fallen for you and I can’t get up.”

“You look like you’re suffering from a lack of Vitamin me.”

“Are you Australian? Because you meet all of my koala fications.”

“Did we ever take a class together? I could have sworn we had chemistry.”

“On a scale from one to America, how free are you tonight?”

"Hey I’m a dime short, is it okay if I borrow you?"

“You must be a banana, because I find you a peeling.”

“Do you have a band-aid? I scraped my knee falling for you.”

“I lost my number. Can I have yours?”

Sure, these may not be the most original lines, but sometimes a cheesy pickup line can bring a smile to your Tinder match’s face and help get that person to open up, depending on how the line is delivered.

If you choose to go with the cheesy pickup line route, make sure you have a decent follow-up line. A corny line may be enough to barely get you in the door, but you may need another line or two to seal the deal and get the conversation really going.

2. The Name Pun Pickup Line

A close sibling to the cheesy pickup line, the name pun line may be based in corniness, but it can also be a great way to get your Tinder match to laugh. To pull off that perfect name pun line, you need to, obviously, incorporate your match’s name, usually in some sort of flirtatious double meaning.

Here are a few name pun examples:

“I feel like you are Taylor-made for me.”

“If you don’t respond to this message, Alexplode.”

“How about you Ann I go out for a drink sometime?”

“Hey Julia, did you know your name’s an anagram of jail? Wait, that’s not right. I have to take U out first”

“Are you makeup? Because I could use más Cara.”

“Oh Danny boy, the swipes, the swipes are calling.”

You get the point. Of course, this type of pickup line is completely dependent on your match’s name, and not every name is conducive to that perfect pun. If it’s not something that immediately comes to mind, consider going another route.

3. The Anti Pickup Line

The anti pickup line flips the whole cheesy pickup line trope on its head by starting out with a typical setup and ending with an unexpected, absurd, or straightforward punchline. This satirical approach is perfect if going the corny route isn’t really your style.

For example, you can use something like, “Are you from Tennessee? Because we should totally go out sometime,” or “Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven? Whoops, sorry, meant to send that to a client. I’m a personal injury lawyer on the weekends.”

The anti-pickup line is great to use on a Tinder match that has a particularly dry or off-the-wall sense of humor, or maybe on someone who doesn’t take the whole online dating thing all that seriously.

How will you know what sort of sense of humor a Tinder match has, or if they will respond well to an anti pickup line? Well, like with most Tinder pickup lines, you just need to use trial and error to see if something sticks.

4. The Observational Pick-up Line

The great thing about using Tinder (or most dating apps, for that matter) as opposed to simply meeting someone while out on the town or on a blind date is that you have a number of potential conversation topics at your disposal before you even begin a conversation. This is all thanks to the option to include a few pictures and a lengthy bio in a Tinder profile.

Tinder pickup lines

A quick scroll through the pictures and bio will show where users are from, what they do for a living, what they enjoy doing in their spare time, whether or not they have any pets, and so on and so forth.

For example, if you notice that your match is pictured with a dog in several of the profile pics, maybe ask some questions or bring up your own love of dogs. If your match expresses a fondness for traveling in their bio, try asking that person about a favorite traveling sport or an ideal vacation destination.

The observational pickup line doesn’t really have the feel of a pickup line per se, since it doesn’t exactly necessitate going out on a limb for that desired reaction. That being said, most matches will probably appreciate the directness of the observational pickup line, since it can get the ball rolling on the conversation and maybe even help to bring up a few possible date ideas.

5. The Hypothetical Date Pickup Line

With this type of pickup line, you need to set up a hypothetical date that you would take a Tinder match on. The goal of this type of pickup line is to, not so subtly, convince a match to go out with you. This is the lengthiest type of pickup line (potentially running several paragraphs) and probably requires the greatest deal of creativity.

It can start out something like, “I pick you up at 7:30, we go to your favorite restaurant, we watch the sun set...” and can continue from there. Depending on how you’re feeling, you can take the hypothetical in a number of directions, making it either more believable or crazy and outlandish (“And then we go sky diving with the entire cast from Cheers!”).

The hypothetical date pickup line can be a great way to showcase both your romantic and funny side.

6. The NSFW Pickup Line

Requiring you to lead off with some sort of sexual innuendo right off the bat, this is one of the most popular types of pickup lines, and it is also one of the riskiest. A dirty joke may earn you a laugh or two and maybe even a date, but some users may get turned off if you take things too far.

We can’t really show you most examples here, since they are NSFW and all, but know that if you’re going to go in this direction, you should be prepared to be shut down quite a fair amount.

Choosing The Right Pickup Line

Whichever route you choose to go with a pickup line, it should be one that feels right for you. Again, if it feels forced to you, then it will likely feel forced to your Tinder date. The “just be yourself” mantra may seem like a cliché, but it really is the best way to operate on Tinder.

If you have more of a goofy sense of humor, then consider leading with a corny joke. If you’re more of a romantic type, then try going the more straightforward route.

It may take you a few times for you to get into your rhythm with that right type of pickup line, but once you figure out what works best for you, you’ll be scoring Tinder dates in no time.
