Archives For social

Talk about a great start to the week. Dudepins was covered by StartupPlays and Techvibes…and its only Tuesday.

StartupPlays which is an online accelerator declared Dudepins in the top 35 startups that TechCrunch missed. They placed us tenth amongst other new and great startups like BetaPunch and Gijit. We think this is great considering we are only about 3 weeks into our beta.

Then Techvibes turns around and features us in a very well written article highlighting our Canadian roots. Techvibes is dedicated to covering social, mobile, and startup news that impacts Canadians. They have been around since 2002 and are a major resource for the Canadian startup community.

Both recognize that there is room for Dudepins next to Pinterest since there is such a massive difference in the type of content shared. We want to thank all of our amazing users and all those involved in our community for this. It’s been great to attract those who share and enjoy ‘dude stuff’. College Humor created a hilarious animated video about this difference in content titled “The Fall of Pinterest“. It is a must watch and is absolutely hilarious.

Today, Jeff Barrett of the Washington Times featured Dudepins in a Q&A article with the Dudes. It was a brief interview in which we were asked the basics about Dudepins. Here are the highlights.

Q1: What was the inspiration for Duepins?

Once we realized that (Pinterest was mainly for women) and had a really good think about it over cigars and scotch, we just decided to strap down and create a social sharing platform for men. Hence, Dudepins.

Q2: Who is Dudepins target market?

This seems to be a popular question, even at this stage of the game. Despite being called “Dudepins”, with an obvious call out to “Dudes”, we are actually all about catering to all individuals seeking to share male oriented content.

Q3: Anything else?

We really want to emphasize that this is all about our users, so we need their input, questions, comments, etc to make this right.

As a side note, Dudepins is officially a week old. We have been letting people on the site for exactly one week and the response has been great! That’s why we want to take this chance to thank everyone who has supported Dudepins so far. Everyone who has manned up, signed up and pinned up has got us off to a great start. Keep posting all your awesome dude stuff and make sure you share it with others.
